Jack Brunell wins Supercross Goes!
In front of a traditionally full house with a lot of atmosphere, 22-year-old Jack Brunell rode to victory in the Saturday final of the Supercross in Goes. He did that for Shannon Terreblanche and Dennis Ullrich. The Belgian duo Jurgen Wybo and Yentel Martens finished fifth and sixth respectively.
Already in the first, dazzling Inters match, Brunell showed that things were serious. The Rabbit Racing-Kawasaki rider recovered very well from fourth place. He first defeated the Hungarian Nemeth (final winner on Friday) and then Martens and Ullrich. Brunell also managed to win the fourth series ahead of the strong Terreblanche and Dennis Ullrich. The second heat went to Shannon Terreblanche ahead of Jurgen Wybo. The same Wybo proved in turn with a nice victory in the third heat that he should certainly be counted among the shadow favorites. Yentel Martens, who came back from 5th on the two-stroke KTM, took second place after Wybo and ahead of Ashley Greedy. In addition to Brunell, four candidate winners announced themselves for the final: Ullrich, Terreblanche, Wybo and Greedy.
Brunell outclasses the competition
Dutch SX specialist Maurice Klijn won the repechage ahead of the young Lars Van Berkel and the returning Maarten Govaert. Dennis Ullrich was first out of the tight start in the final. Although the 18-year-old German gave his business card, he could not hold off the motivated Brunell. There was also a lot of competition for places of honour. Wybo fought like a lion, setting the fastest lap in the race, but ultimately had to give up third place. In the final phase Terreblanche came on strong. Shanter had climbed from the sub-top to second place, seemed to be overtaking leader Brunell, unfortunately the final was just a little too short for the sympathetic South African, Ullrich still finished third. The dashing Jeffrey Meurs secured the spectacle, but lost in the final. Nemeth disappointed with a 9th place.
