Bubba strikes back in Oakland
4 races, 4 different winners on 4 different bikes and 2 riders sharing the lead. Much more exciting that this can be difficult. James Stewart hit back hard in Oakland after his disappointing start to the season and won that fourth game of the season. He made it to the final ahead of Chad Reed and Ryan Villopoto. Leader Ryan Dungey finished fourth and will share the top spot with Chad Reed next week. For the Lites, the victory once again went to Eli Tomac, who outpaced Marvin Musquin and Zach Osbourne.
In the Supercross finals it was Reed who got the fastest start. He quickly got Stewart and Villopoto in his wake and this trio rode close together for most of the race. For his part, Dungey only started around tenth and had to work his way to the front. At the front, Stewart pushed his way past Reed and took the lead. He was able to open a gap of a few seconds and did not relinquish his leading position to win his first SX in a long time. Reed had to hold off a pressing Villopoto and Dungey came back to fourth place.
In the standings, Reed takes the lead next to Dungey. Villopoto follows by two points and Stewart is also not finished yet, 12 points behind.
Among the Lites, the fastest start was for Martin Davalos, he was quickly passed by Tomac who rode unthreatened to victory and consolidated his leading position. Wilson and Seely both crashed, Wilson would finish tenth. Marvin Musquin impressively made his way to the front after a mediocre start. He achieved his second podium with a second place, just ahead of Zach Osbourne. Osbourne, who finished on the podium for the second time in as many weeks, rode his last race on American soil in Oakland and now starts preparations for the GPs. He already indicated that he wanted to hand over a business card to drive in the states again next year.
Tyla Rattray did not reach the final after a serious crash. At first it was feared that he had a normal concussion, but in the end it turned out that he had a small fracture in his c7 vertebra. So a downer for Tyla.
Tomac is doing a great job in the championship standings. He distances himself from Wilson who now follows at 15p. Osbourne follows nicely in third place. The next game is next week in Anaheim.
