Matt Goerke crowns himself 'König of Munich'!
Mike Alessi dominated the Saturday evening program in Munich. Alessi immediately won the first qualifying race ahead of Thomas Ramette and Mickael Musquin. The remaining qualifying races were won by Cole Siebler and Matt Goerke. For Yentel Martens, the only Belgian in Munich, the evening was over after the rematch. Robert Kiniry of the Rockstar Meyer Honda team somewhat surprisingly won the first semi-final ahead of Mike Alessi, the other semi-final was a perfect match for Matt Goerke.
Florent Richier, the 'König of Munich' in 2010, initially took the lead in the Saturday final, but soon had to relinquish it to Mike Alessi. The Suzuki rider won the final quite easily. A crash on the first lap forced Matt Goerke to catch up, but ended up at 4e place would fail. Richier finished second, 4 seconds behind Alessi, Austin Howell completed the podium.
Sunday
It was the 'usual suspects', Mike Alessi, Matt Goerke and Florent Richier, who won the qualifying races on Sunday afternoon. Once again, Yentel Martens was able to pack up after the retakes.
Mike Alessi won the first semi-final, Richier did the same in the second. Both men started as favorites in the final. Alessi immediately took the lead and was able to close the gap. However, a crash by Robert Kiniry forces the race management to stop the final.
It came to a restart in which Filip Neugebauer took the holeshot ahead of Cole Siebler and Matt Goerke. Goerke was able to get past Neugebauer. Alessi who was hanging third couldn't do that and crashed in a duel together with Neugebauer. Alessi finished fourth behind Goerke, Ramette and Neugebauer. With equal scores on Saturday and Sunday, Goerke and Alessi had the same number of points. However, Goerke's victory on Sunday was the deciding factor and the rider from Florida became the new 'König von Munich'!
