Kyle Chisholm 'King of Bercy' – Barcia takes Sunday's final
After the outrageousness of Saturday evening, Justin Barcia had to put some things right in front of the French public on Sunday afternoon.
The controversy in the Palais Omnisports Paris Bercy also appeared on Sunday. Mike Alessi immediately took the lead in the Sunday final thanks to a false start. However, the brand new Motoconcepts Suzuki rider would not enjoy it for long because after just one lap he had to give the lead to an unleashed Justin Barcia. Barcia block-passed Alessi in two consecutive corners. First Alessi escaped, a corner later the Geico Honda rider took the lead. The rider from New Jersey found the right cadence on the narrow track. In the backfield, Gregory Aranda and Nick Wey crashed in the tunnel section of the circuit. Jake Weimer, the only rider who managed to stay close to Barcia, also choked when braking for the hairpin in the tunnel. As a result, Barcia can make a gap and he would no longer be threatened.
Behind Barcia there was still tension between Eli Tomac and Kyle Chisholm for the overall victory. However, Tomac crashed together with Arnaud Tonus in the whoops section. Chisholm therefore only had to finish third to win the title of 'King of Bercy'. Tommy Searle surprisingly became the first European in sixth place.
Final Sunday: 1. Justin Barcia, 2. Jake Weimer, 3. Kyle Chisholm, 4. Mike Alessi, 5. Eli Tomac, 6. Tommy Searle, 7. Fabien Izoird, 8. Nicolas Aubin, 9. Cédric Soubeyras, 10. Cyrille Coulon
Final score King of Bercy: 1. Kyle Chisholm, Motoconcepts Yamaha, 2. Eli Tomac, Geico Honda, 3. Jake Weimer, Monster Energy Pro Circuit Kawasaki, 4. Mike Alessi, Motoconcepts Suzuki, 5. Cédric Soubeyras HDI Honda.
