Romain Febvre European MX2 Champion
The last race of the European MX2 Championship promised to be a thriller given the small difference between the French Romain Febvre and Dylan Ferrandis. And especially because leader Febvre made a mistake in the first heat. Despite two victories, Ferrandis ultimately had to bow his head to KTM rider Febvre. In the final standings, Febvre wins the European MX2 title with a lead of just 3 points. Compared to Ferrandis' 7 series victories, Febvre's only victory in France is meager, but the 18-year-old Frenchman was the most regular and also proved his ability in his own country - also in the supermotard (!) -. Tonkokv and Desprey were allowed on stage.
The Dutchman Donny Bastemeijer took third place in the first heat, and finishes 4th in the championship, two points behind the Frenchman Lefrancois. Ferrandis won ahead of home driver Dennis Ullrich.
An impressive Ferrandis actually crushed the competition in the second series. The Bud Racing-Kawasaki promise had a lead of almost 30 seconds over the Russian Aleksandr Tonkov at the finish. Kevin Fors drove a nice catch-up race from 14th place and in the first lap he managed to come back to 6th place. Fors is also the best Belgian in the final standings. Kevin finished 9th ahead of Jens Getteman, who only managed to score points in the first heat in Gaildorf.
