Soon GPs in a stadium?
In the Swiss magazine speedweek light FIM CMS chairman Wolfgang Srb a sneak peek into the future of motocross GPs. Srb does not seem completely satisfied with the spectator numbers at the GPs and attributes this mainly to their often remote locations. That is why the Austrian plans to move the GPs to more urbanized areas. Large football stadiums could then serve as a base for a GP. This way, more people can attend a GP more comfortably. Srb emphasizes that the circuits in those stadiums must remain motocross circuits and must not become supercross tracks. The circuits would not be entirely located in the stadium, but would also have an outdoor section.
The first two stadium GPs could be on the World Cup calendar as early as 2013. Maybe we already have one there in Belgium suitable location in front of.
