Race report 8th RES Clubcross
A nice busy RES club cross.
This was the reward for RES for the hard work in recent days after the bad weather with rain to ensure the perfect condition of the circuit. With great competitions and fortunately no accidents, everyone returned home satisfied.

Here there was no match for the much too strong Bo de Clercq. This young man from Waarschoot rode a flawless race in both heats to win the race with a lead of more than 1,5 minutes. Behind de Clercq it was Timo Dhanis from Terneuzen who came in second in both heats. Jayden Hoek (East Souburg) had to give up on Dhanis in both heats and settle for a double third place. Veron Jansen (Vlissingen) saw his extra training work last week rewarded with two fourth places. Luc Verboom (Arnemuiden) completed the top 5 with a fifth and sixth place in the series.

In this series it was Jordan-Lee van Maaren (Vlissingen) who controlled the race with a nice lead in both heats and was also the overall winner. For second place, Axelaar Tom Cortvriendt signed, who had to do everything he could to keep Stan Brons ('s Heer Abtskerke) at bay, especially in the first series. It was a beautiful spectacle for many laps to see how these boys battled for silver. In the second moto Stan Brons had a better start, but after three laps Stan disappeared from the top of the field due to a mistake. As a result, in the second series after Van Maaren, Cortvriendt with the guest driver from the VJMO Cedric Viaene (Knokke-Heist) in third place. Aaron van de Veer (Herkingen) rode a consistent race with two fourth places. We also had Evie Scheele (Zaamslag) at the start, who was quite nervous about her first RES club cross in which she participated and neatly finished her two heats as a lady.
1.Jorden-Lee van Maaren, 2. Tom Cortviendt, 3.Cedric Viaene, 4.Aaron van de Veer, 5. Stan Brons.
MX-2
Joey Verwijs (Lepelstraat) was the fastest in both heats and his victory was never in danger. He rode a lonely race in both heats, but was the fastest man on the circuit. Aswin van Damme (Zuiddorpe) shows that he is certainly not written off for the rankings, because with a second and third place in the series he achieved a neat second place in the final ranking. Michael Bruyninckx (Lembeke) suffered quite a blow in the first series and had to recover for a while, but was then able to start a catch-up race to come back to a beautiful fifth place in series one, in the second series there was another crash for Bruyninckx, but now his recovery took less time and he was able to fight straight back to third place. Sven Goossen (Oost-Eeklo) also put in a great performance by finishing third and fourth in the series. Dimitri Dekker (Zandstraat) also took the podium with a fifth place in the final ranking. Dominique Soeters (Terneuzen) fell just off the podium due to a crash in the first heat. Mathieu Afschrift (Ardooie) saw a cup go up in smoke due to a defective spark plug.
1.Joey Verwijs, 2. Aswin van Damme, 3. Michael Bruyninckx, 4. Sven Goossen, 5. Dimitri Dekker.
MX Open
This is increasingly becoming “the class”. With 34 riders behind the gate it was the man from Heikant Patrick Piessens, who took the hole shot and seemed to control the series until Pascal de Zeeuw (Zuiddorpe) gained steam and made it very difficult for Piessens with three corners to go. Ultimately, it was due to a doubled rider that Pascal had to avoid, which meant that his overtaking maneuver was not successful and Piessens took the victory with a 3 second lead over De Zeeuw. In third place in the first series it was Bart Seymortier (Adegem) who was able to take third place after a spectacular crash with Kenneth Meese.
The second series was also exciting because Pascal de Zeeuw wanted to try to stay with Piessens, but no matter what Pascal tried, he was unable to get to the wheel. Niels Jansen (Terneuzen) also managed to put on a consistent race with a fourth place in the final standings. Bart Seymortier managed to limit the damage and was able to take the podium in fifth place.
1.Patrick Piessens, 2. Pascal de Zeeuw, 3. Dario Waltez, 4. Niels Jansen, 5. Bart Seymortier.

In second place with the same day result, the man from Zierikzee Erik van der Wekken. Ivan Robyn (Stekene) had to settle for third place at an appropriate distance. In fourth place in the final standings it was the man from Wichelen Christophe van de Ende with Dieter Hilleweg (Ghent) and the podium was known in fifth place.

Veterans b
In this 50 year+ class, entrepreneur Ron Doppegieter from Hoofdplaat twisted his knee in the first moto, but he managed to suppress the pain to take victory in both motos. Guest rider Eddy van Geert (Bruggenhout) finished second in both heats and also in the final rankings. In third place was Sigurd Vanrijsselberghe (Aaigem), with Jos Machiels (Diepenbeek) behind him in fourth place. Marc Standaert (Lembeke) had not yet fully recovered from an earlier fall, but was still able to compete for a cup as fifth in the final rankings.

Roy Gijsel (Heikant) was again the strongest in both series. After a nasty injury, it was not obvious that this would be the case for Roy Gijsel, as he had to regain competition rhythm in preparation for the last two ONKs in the autumn. After Gijsel, a strong Jordi van de Wiele (St.Jansteen) was able to limit the gap to Gijsel to 15 to 20 seconds. In the second series it was mainly Jeffrey van Kempen (Oost-Souburg), who remained in battle with van de Wiele for second place for a long time, but a double third place was his final classification. The Van Kempen family had worked hard to participate, because last week an engine block broke due to an unfortunate racing incident. Boy Stockman (Terneuzen) rode a lonely but neat race with two fourth places. Erik Koote (Sommelsdijk), who competed today on a two-stroke machine, finished fifth in the final rankings with the same number of points as MCLB guest rider Erwin van Tatenhove (Zelzate). The regulations then determine that the second series is decisive.
1. Roy Gijsel, 2. Jordy van de Wiele, 3. Jeffrey van Kempen, 4. Boy Stockman, 5. Erik Koote, 6 Erwin van Tatenhove
