Damon Graulus storms to success in Winchester!
In the first heat, Damon Graulus (Standing Construct-Topsport Vlaanderen) was already in the race, but due to a mistake he had to let the leaders go. Fortunately, the sympathetic Graulus got his revenge in the second race. Thanks to a victory, Damon also won the final score ahead of Brian Bogers and Simone Zecchina. On September 11, the final round of the 125cc European Championship will be held in Fermo, Italy.
Tim Gajser wins race 1
Brian Bogers, Jeremy Seewer and Damon Graulus fought for the holeshot in the first race. Since Seewer and Graulus went wide, Bogers was able to push on and take the lead. The Grizzly Racing rider just managed to avoid a sliding block pass from Tim Gajser and remained in the lead almost until halfway through the race. Brian was followed by Gajser, Zecchina and Graulus. Ultimately, Bogers had to give up his leading position under pressure from Gajser and Zecchina. In the meantime, Brent Van Doninck had also advanced after a poor start, the Herentals player would have 4de become Damon Graulus. The Slovenian Gajser won his first race of the season and Bogers rode happily to his first podium. Dave Versluis of the Frentech-Champ KTM team finished ninth ahead of Matthias Plessers.
Graulus holds off Dunn in a nail biter!
Brian Bogers took the holeshot, but Graulus was also there. Damon quickly caught up with Bogers and took the lead from start to finish! The 16-year-old from Vossem came under pressure in the final lap from the strongly returning Briton James Dunn, who had started 6th. Yet Graulus kept a cool head and secured his first European Championship victory. Brian Bogers finished third, although he was allowed on the podium, he was very disappointed because he was also very close to a first victory. The difference with Graulus was barely one point! Brent Van Doninck finished 7th in the second race. Tim Gajser, the race winner of the first heat, dropped out. This time Plessers finished 11th, taking 10th place in the final standings.
