Lotto Trophy: Paddock gossip Orp
The Walloon Brabant village Orp-le-Grand was often seen in the TV news last week. The residents fought tooth and nail against the flooding caused by last week's torrential rains. On Sunday there was not much to notice on the circuit itself. The surrounding fields were still muddy. That is why many riders did 'wild camping' here and there in the village. The owner of the above “voiture tuné” then engaged in 'wild parking' or was this really a VIP? But there is also a lot to see and experience in the actual paddock.
– Some Belgian top players seemed to be well frightened. They did it, with the crash of Clément Desalle in the previous round of the Lotto Trophy still in the back of your mind, so take it easy. Often even a little too calm for our liking.
– Occasional rider Jurgen Wybo surprised in Orp. On a circuit that always suited him, the MCLB driver managed to finish fifth overall and first Belgian. An achievement that deserves to be seen. Wybo himself was also satisfied. “Driving went well today” said the MX Viaene Kawasakidriver afterwards. “But my legs are completely sore” he added honestly.
– LS Honda Racing support rider Stijn Verstrepen had a heavy crash in the second moto on the plateau at the top of the circuit. Stijn was 'shaken and stirred' but, with the help of his girlfriend, he managed to get back into the riders' park. “Everything is running…” was his first reaction. Best wishes from MXMag.be Stanne!
– Maarten Govaert also shared the blows. The Wetteren resident twisted his left foot in the second moto. The foot he broke in Kester. The Sixstar Racing rider wisely decided to watch the third heat from the sidelines.
– Maarten Govaert's new paddock stand was also striking. Pay close attention to the color. A first indication of an impending switch from Yamaha to Kawasaki? No, Govaert had forgotten his own stand at home and was loaned one from Jurgen Wybo.
– As announced, MXMag.be columnist Elton Van Craenenbroeck aka 'The Privateer' present in Orp, but without a motorcycle. When 'The Privateer' saw the bone-dry circuit he spoke the already legendary words:If I had known…” Will undoubtedly be continued in his next column.
– Some people are already busy with 2012. Jurgen Van Nooten told us that he will continue to combine the ONK with the Lotto Trophy next year. Jurgen continues to ride a KTM SX-F 450 for JH MX Service from Gemert. Although he still had some doubts about an SX-F 350.
