Organizer Coupe de l'Avenir confirms interest in the Belgian GP
MotoCross Club des Hauts-Pays- president Olivier Rougraff confirms that his club is indeed considering the organization of the Belgian Motocross GP MXMag.be the news brought on Thursday.
"We are indeed working on a project to bring the Belgian GP to Angreau. However, given the risks involved, it is out of the question to simply plunge into an adventure. As MotoCross Club des Hauts-Pays, we cannot handle such an undertaking alone. That is why we have teamed up with the organizer of the Dour Festival. For the GP we would also go to a new location a few kilometers further up. And the plan is to subsequently use the infrastructure available at a festival for motocross” said Olivier Rougraff.
At the same time, Rougraff also stipulates that the decision is far from over yet. So nothing is on paper yet and there is no question of a contract for the time being.
"Nothing has been decided yet at this point. We have received the precise terms and conditions from Youthstream and the financial terms are, to be honest, not good. It is logical that a Grand Prix comes with a price tag. Yet it must also make sense from an economic point of view. Our partners organize many major concerts and events every year. They participate in this because it is interesting from a business perspective, not because they are crazy about motocross! We have a number of files with candidate sponsors, including a subsidy application. They will decide whether organizing a Belgian GP in Dour is feasible or not” concludes Rougraff.
