Monster Energy Yamaha riders on Latvian GP
Steven Frossard more than corrected his faux-pas from the German GP with a 2nd place in the final standings in Kegums. And also his teammate David Philippaerts rode a strong GP in Latvia for the first time. The Monster EnergyYamahaboys about their Latvian GP.
Steven Frossard (2/2):
"I had a bad start in the first moto and after about twenty minutes I no longer had a good feeling for the track. In addition, I also had some problems with pumped arms. I was looking forward to better lines and that allowed me to ride faster and smoother. I came back very strong, even though it was difficult to pass the other riders. I almost got Antonio, but couldn't finish. Anyway, I was satisfied. I felt fit and ready for the second moto and passed Antonio on the first lap, but he got me back. I started looking at the lines and kept pace with him. But when the bike started to sound strange I focused on getting second place and getting to the finish. I was able to play with the bike at this track this weekend. I hope it will be the same next time in the sand."
David Philippaerts (5/5):
"I'm happy with my result here, because last year I found the circuit very difficult. But this time I was able to drive fast here. I think it was possible to finish in the top three in the second moto, but I made a mistake at the start with Nagl and that made me lose time. tend to drive more smoothly. My lap times were good afterwards, although the condition of the track meant that it was hard work here. This is not my favorite circuit so I'm quite happy with a shape like this here. . I took some risks to pass, but I overtook a lot of riders and that was also something positive. My condition is now good and that is important in the run-up to Lommel and Loket. The engine ran really well today. We made a number of changes to the suspension with Fabio (mechanic) and that turned out to work. We now have a weekend of rest but we will prepare for the sand in Belgium.”
