Radson MX2 Trophy: Kevin Fors seizes power in Tongeren!
Also in the Radson MX2 Trophy the Limburg round meant a turning point in the championship. Mark Boot, who had been the leader in the Belgian Championship until Tongeren, had to give up the lead to Kevin Fors. Beursfoon Suzuki rider Mike Kras may have been the fastest in Tongeren, but did not see that translated into a strong end result.
Heat 1: Getteman demonstrates
The favorites were immediately at the front. Kevin Fors, Mike Kras en Jens Getteman were the first to rush down the hillside. In their wake, the surprisingly strong Jilani Cambre en Julien Lieber.
At the start of the second lap, Kras and Fors collided with each other at the bottom of the circuit. Immediately the mob rushed past them. Fors was able to continue his race, but Kras passed the finish line at a snail's pace and then gave up. In the meantime, Jens Getteman had taken over. Behind him, GP rider Julien Lieber gained ground. However, Lieber was never able to threaten the Kemea-Reytec Yamaha rider. Meanwhile, Kevin Fors was advancing from the rear. Like Kenny Vandueren incidentatlly. Fors would finish third behind Lieber and Getteman. Boot finished 4the for Cambre.
Heat 2: Scratch strikes back
Kenny Vandueren took the holeshot in the second moto. The Negaan JM Racing KTM rider led for Getteman, Tom De Belder and Mike Kras. Lieber and Cambré followed at a distance from the leading foursome. Behind them, Kevin Fors advanced very quickly after a missed start. At the start of the second round, Vandueren came under great pressure from the faster Getteman. The native of Beringen could not resist that pressure and Getteman was given free rein. In the meantime, Mike Kras had moved along and successfully launched an attack on Getteman's leading position. Getteman was able to hold on for a moment, but then the Beursfoon Suzuki rider sped away. Afterwards, Fors also launched an attack on Getteman. Getteman was apparently so impressed by this that he choked on a dismount ten meters further. The Kemea Reytec Yamaha rider later lost time when a spectator's parasol landed in his front wheel. Ultimately, Getteman would disappear from the race one round later, giving the Wellen native all his 3e DNF recorded in 8 heats. In the meantime, Fors and Lieber had advanced to places 2 and 3. The sloping track clearly suited both Walloons. Kenny Vandueren also disappeared from the race after he was surprised on the treacherous jump. Kras won the round unchallenged ahead of Fors and Lieber. Fors also did a good job. Mark Boot managed to get only 3 points out of this round with a stubborn motorcycle and thus lost the lead in the championship.
