Desalle takes pole in Glen Helen!
The MX1 riders were presented with special circumstances on Saturday during the qualifying race in Glen Helen: quite a lot of wind, a low sun, the longest circuit of the season and a lot of marks from the amateur races of the past few days.
Clément Desalle is keen to bounce back after his poorer performance in Valkenswaard. That's exactly what the MX-Panda did in the qualifying sessions! Anthony Boissiere was the first to go through the impressive high right hand bend with Bobbryshev, Goncalves and Desalle on his wheel. Bobryshev was the early leader of the race, but Desalle took command on the third lap and would cruise to victory ahead of Nagl and Bobryshev. Steven Frossard injured his shoulder earlier, the Frenchman still managed to finish 4th and the Yamaha factory rider indicated that his shoulder did not bother him.
After a mediocre start, Cairoli, Philippaerts and De Dycker rode to the front. Cairoli, who was held up for a long time by Barragan, finished 7th after Philippaerts. De Dycker was behind Cairoli after five laps, but the LS Honda Racing rider unfortunately had to retire due to technical problems. Steve Ramon, very strong during the pre-qualifying session, qualified 9th, Strijbos finished 12th after a consistent race. Marc De Reuver crashed hard during the first free practice, Calimero would only finish 24th. Herjan Brakke became the best Dutchman with an 18th place.
