BK: Win for Cédric Melotte in Flavion!
After last year, especially the Inters, found the Flavion Enduro course to be insufficiently selective and varied, innovation was carried out this year. Local organizer Thierry Bertrand and Moto Club Dinant have designed a different route this year with two completely new specials. Unfortunately, this edition would not be spared from criticism. Although this time the problem was with timekeeping. Despite the introduction of a system with transponders, the results were not forthcoming until Monday... We will not discuss the who and how of this unfortunate incident here. The fact is that something like this should not actually happen. People who participate in a sports competition simply want a result afterwards. If only to justify on the home front why they had been away from six in the morning until half past eight in the evening... Once again, this "affair" does not really help the image of Belgian motorsport.
Then to the sporty side. After two weeks of strong riding in the EWC, everyone might have expected a resounding victory from Jeff Goblet. However, the Liège native never really got into his rhythm in Florennes and had to passively watch as the competition set faster times on the specials. Moreover, Goblet did not hide the fact that he had quite a bit of difficulty with the strict average imposed on the participants during the connecting stages. The Gas Gas riders were in good weather at the front. Kevin Gauniaux did a number of scratches on the specials, but had already lost valuable time in the morning when his engine stalled on the first test. It was Cédric Melotte who set the rhythm. In his own region, the Namur player turned out to be the absolute strongest and that opens up perspectives for the rest of the season. Melotski would start in all remaining BC competitions. Immediately a pretender for the title in the Scratch. Melotte and Gauniaux dominated in E3. Cédric Cremer did that in E2 where he managed to stay ahead of Jeff Goblet and ended up on the Scratch podium. In the lightest Inter class, Charles-Antoine Allegra did what he had already started in Warnant: winning. Albeit narrowly for Roel Verpoorten. The gap between the Scherpenheuvel resident and Dutchman Marco Teunissen was larger.
