BK MX 2011: strong line-up at Inters Open
Less than three weeks separate us from the start of the Motorcross Championships on April 17 in Mons. The registrations are still arriving at the BMB gradually, but it is already clear who the favorites are.
Will we get a repeat of 2009 this year, when Ken De Dycker and Clément Desalle dominated the Belgian Championship? Two years later, Desalle again signed for an entire Belgian Championship. In 2009, de Waal was the only one who managed to break the Suzuki hegemony. Reigning champion and Desalle's teammate at Rockstar Suzuki, Steve Ramon, will be looking for his sixth Belgian title at the Inters Open in 2011.
The main opposition for Rockstar Suzuki could well come from the LS Racing Honda camp. Ken De Dycker will finally win a Belgian title. It will be De Dycker's teammate Shaun Simpson's first full BC campaign. Simpson was previously introduced to the Kesterheide. The Scot already seems to be a nice asset for the Belgian title fight. However, it remains to be seen whether Simpson will actually be able to intervene in the title debates.
The fact that the Belgian Championship appealed to Davide Guarneri last year is evident from the fact that the Italian prefers the Belgian Championship to the French Elite Championship. However, Guarnieri will be riding for Bud Racing Kawasaki as a French employee this year. The Italian already showed his skills on the Belgian circuits last year and will also be an outsider for the Belgian title in 2011.
Two more outsiders are Jeremy Van Horebeek and Kevin Strijbos. Van Horebeek made a positive impression in 2010 on a 450F engine. This year the brand new KTM factory pilot could have an SX-F 350 at his disposal in the Belgian Championship. 2011 will be a crucial season for Kevin Strijbos. The Wuustwezel resident has been looking for the form of yesteryear for a number of years. During the preseason, the Delta Racing Suzuki pilot already recorded strong performances in the Italian Open Championship.
Nick Triest and Jéremy Delincé complete the list of regular elite riders. This season, the teammates at Diga Racing KTM will complete a full campaign in the BK Inters Open for the first time. For two-time Belgian champion MX2 Triest it will even be a real baptism of fire with the big guns.
