Graham Jarvis triumphs in hell!
Unbelievable but true! For the second consecutive edition, a Brit with a trials background wins the famous Hells's gate extreme enduro in Italy, near Pisa. After Dougie Lampkin, the prize now went to 35-year-old Husaberg star pilot Graham Jarvis. Together with Lampkin, Jarvis was the only one who reached the top of the mythical Hell's peak after a grueling enduro! After a long line of strong men gave up, Jarvis was left as the triumphant. At the finish the difference with Lampkin was more than 25 minutes. Although the performance of Lampkin (Gas-Gas) was also that of a real iron-eater. During the indoor competition in Barcelona last week, the 12-time trial world champion was barely able to ride due to a terrible headache. The doctor had advised against Hell's Gate and wanted to wait for further research, but Dougie continued with a more than creditable result as a reward.
In fact, the entire enduro takes place on a gigantic private area around Mont Ciocco, the organizer of the race Fabio Fasola even had to shorten the race from 6 to 5 laps this year because otherwise no one would have reached the top!
Before you can participate in the final, you must be among the first 30 in the qualifying enduro test in the morning. Among those 30 also two lowlanders: Mickael Vukcevic (9th) on Sherco and multiple Dutch trial champion Alex Van Den Broek who finished 20th. Pascal Berlingieri (Husaberg) finished 41st in the morning, Jurgen Van den Goorbergh 46th.
