Philippaerts and Paulin eye-catchers in Mantova
Today a press conference took place in Mantova announcing next weekend's Starcross. Even though it is certainly not the strongest edition due to the coincidence with Valence and the absence of the Red Bull-KTM riders, Mantova remains a race to look forward to. And if it is any consolation, Northern Italy can count on very mild temperatures for this time of year, around 15° C. Moreover, the field of 60 riders from 17 different countries is still more than worth it. Monster Energy Yamaha comes with David Philippaerts and Gautier Paulin, Tanel Leok (last year's series winner) makes his TM debut in the Crossodromo, Yamaha-Gariboldi is counting on Kullas, Charlier and Boissière.
There is a large delegation from the Dutch side with Herjan Brakke, Glenn Coldenhoff, Mike Kras, Patrick Roos and Bas Verhoeven. And we are also looking forward to Kevin Strijbos' first race for Delta-Suzuki with more than usual interest. Traditionally, Strijbos feels good in Mantova... Mantova is probably too early for Yamaha-Van Beers rider Marc De Reuver. Notorious sand riders such as Tom Söderstrom, Gert Krestinov and Aigar Leok will also have a great time in Italy. Besides being a first indicator, Mantova is of course also a beautiful spectacle with a compact stadium layout, a nice paddock and the famous 1-on-1 on Sunday morning. So a difficult choice; weekend in Valence or weekend in Mantova? You're always in the right place on MXMag! ; o )
