Preview Le Touquet 2011
Even more than usual, we were looking forward to the enduro Enduro of Le Touquet with great impatience. And not just us! Many pilots prepare for this mythical appointment for months. We will tell you everything about the 2011 edition of the enduro
More than 40 Belgian pilots at the start!
Like every year, the starting gate in Le Touquet is completely full. More than 1000 riders will be at the start on Sunday. This includes one very special debutant: Steve Ramon (no. 411). Only three Belgians previously managed to win here: Mingels, Geboers and Delepine. The last Belgian to win in Le Touquet was Gérald Delepine in 1993. Kees Ven Der Ven was the record holder for a long time with 5 victories, until Arnaud Demeester came along, who now has 7! Besides Ramon, there are more fast Belgians: the young Ricky Claus finished seventh last year, but Thierry Klutz (with a GasGas 300), Cedric Cremer (KTM 300 EXC) and Kevin Gauniaux are also aiming for a place in the top 10. good old Johan Boonen could well cause a surprise in the northern French sand!
The Dutch side is mainly looking forward to Ton Van Grinsven. But the boy Mick Van Heugten and Nicky Van Wordrager also want to give Le touquet the best of themselves. Raf Van Looveren scores high in the fun category, he is registered with team 'Zat en Bloot'!
Because this 3-hour race is a matter for specialists, you will always end up with the same participants: Arnaud Demeester, of course, Jean-Claude Mousse, Milko Potisek, Adrien Van Beveren, Yves Deudon, Gautier Leclabart and last but not least: Steve Ramon ! Even in his first participation, Steve has the speed, fitness and experience to win. With team manager Eric Geboers, The Bomb certainly has an experienced expert at its side.
A safer circuit
In terms of circuit, the pilots are presented with a loop of just under 18 kilometers. Sporting director and former winner David Haucquier wanted the safest possible course. To limit the length of the impressive straight line after the start, the start is divided by artificial chicanes. As a starter to the Enduropale, there will be a youth competition tomorrow morning for riders between the ages of 13 and 17. The quads will then leave between 13 and 16.00 p.m. for the 2011 edition of the now traditional Quaduro. Like every year, you can follow Le Touquet live on TV via French public channel France 3.
