ISDE 2010: Wim Vanderheyden about day 1
Hello enduro fanatics,
As promised, here is my report from day 1 of the “six days” in Mexico.
We left this morning at 8:31 am and delivered the bike at 16:25 pm, by which time we had covered 245 km and completed 9 chrono tests. My day went well which cannot be said for 2 of my teammates. Pierre Schmits arrived but has a sore wrist, and Mickael Despontin had problems with the bike and had to retire. Today I was able to take 15th place in the E3 class. The scratch ranking has not yet been released (21:50 PM). After the finish, I went to see the highest test (2775m) again with Jeff Goblet. This is located in a sloping meadow with a very boggy section at the bottom, and due to the large number of participants, the best lines are constantly evolving. The other tests are concrete hard.
The route is very varied and runs over fast slopes, narrow forest paths and mountain walls strewn with thick stones. The big spoilsport is the dust, this dust has already caused the first broken engines today. My Husaberg equipped with DT1 filters worked fine.
Tomorrow we will travel the same route, but we will get 20 minutes less for it.
That's it for today because it's high time I crawl into my nest, because the alarm goes off at 6am.
Greetings and see you tomorrow,
Wim
