The new IMBA calendar
The Motorsport Organization Netherlands (MON) is affiliated with the International Motor Bike Association (IMBA). On November 13 and 14, the conference of the International Motor Bike Association (IMBA) was held in Middelfart, Denmark. The conference went very smoothly and in a friendly atmosphere. In addition to the necessary rule changes, which are not spectacular, the 2011 international sports calendar was also compiled. You will find this calendar here. A few more competitions will be added in Italy, among others. Some important things from this conference at a glance:
1: The Nations Cup of Europe (the European Championship for national teams) will be held on September 11 in Vladimir (Russia).
2: There will be no European Championships for Quads in 2011. Unfortunately, there were not at least 6 organizations willing to organize a European Championship match for the Quads. Some international competitions will be held. These will be included on the IMBA calendar in due course.
3: In 2011, a trophy will be made available to the best classified 2-stroke rider in both the European Championship Open Class and the European Championship MX2. In 2010 this was established for the first time for the European Championship MX2, the Dutchman René Aalbers became the winner of this prize.
4: For the first time, a European Championship MX2 race will be held in the evening. On July 16, 2011, the 3rd round of the European Championship MX2 will be held in Allaire (France, Nantes region). For many years, a night cross has been held in Allaire with international participation, ending with a beautiful laser show and spectacular fireworks. This event attracts 10.000 spectators every year and in 2011 a European Championship competition will be held under artificial light for the first time.
5: A European Ladies Cup will be introduced in 2011. The first matches for this cup will be held in Switzerland (April 9), Germany (June 12) and the Netherlands (date to follow). Age: from 15 years and machines from 85cc large wheels.
6: The IMBA board is investigating whether a Classic MX European Championship can be set up (in 2012). There is a demand for this in various countries
