BK Motocross 2011: from one to two days
For years, the competitions for the Belgian motocross championship were completed in one day. Training, qualifying and heats all took place on Sunday. The training often also served as a qualification. This seems to be coming to an end next year because almost every race for the 2011 Motorcross Championships would take place in 2 days. It is remarkable that the Walloon tests of the Belgian Motocross Championship have been spread over two days for years. Although Saturday is entirely dedicated to the Walloon youth federation FPCNA. It is not yet entirely clear how the organizing Walloon clubs will implement this in 2011. It is clear that the Flemish BK organizers are spreading their competition over two days and thus possibly create space and time for the arrival of the BK Sidecar Cross and Quadcross.
There was discussion about this evolution for years. Supporters pointed to other national championships such as the ADAC MX Masters or the Rockstar Energy Elite championship. By programming the training sessions, and possibly also qualifications, on Saturday, young riders got the much-needed "track time". Moreover, a more extensive qualification would be an excellent training ground for young wolves with European or World Cup ambitions. The opponents pointed out the higher costs (more fuel consumption, tires, wear and tear, etc.) and the fact that not everyone can take time off on Saturdays. Undoubtedly to be continued…
