Auckland: Hansen wins, Ben Townley hurt!
American Josh Hansen has won the fourth round of the Australian Super-X in Auckland (New Zealand). The Pro Circuit Kawasaki rider won three of the four races. Jay Marmont was the only one who could beat Hansen once. Kiwi star pilot Ben Townley had little luck in front of his home crowd. Townley crashed in his heat race and had to retire with a hip injury.
Jake Moss was allowed to join Hansen and Marmont on the podium. Hansen of course also remains in the lead in the standings. He now has a 32-point lead over Marmont.
Josh Hansen: “It's great to win here, of course I would have liked to win the four races. But you can never be too greedy, right? I'm very happy that Monster Energy gave me the opportunity to come here. Australia, the fans and this championship are fantastic!”
Jay Marmont: “What a relief, finally a victory! In the last final I finally had the start that I really wanted, then I was able to finish it.”
Jake Moss: “What a nice feeling to reach the podium. I am also very happy with the way I rode tonight.”
Lites: PJ Larsen seizes power!
The American PJ Larsen took the lead in the Lites yesterday. The JDR KTM rider won two finals and finished third once. Ryan Marmont, brother of Jay, finished second (2-4-4). Luke Styke was the laughing third after Matt Moss crashed out in the second final and scored no points. The Rockstar Motul Suzuki rider finished second twice in the other finals, but he was the loser of the evening. In the championship, Matt Moss is now 9 points behind PJ Larsen.
