ONK MX Harfsen: Exciting finals ahead
Circuit Peppelenbos in Harfsen, Gelderland, will form the setting for the final of the ONK Motocross on Sunday. In the MX1 class, Marc de Reuver has been certain of the ONK title since Emmen, but in the three other classes; Ladies, 85cc and MX2 it is still very exciting!
No fewer than three ladies have a claim to the very first ONK title in this class. World champion Steffie Laier leads the championship with 6 points ahead of Marielle de Mol and 10 ahead of Marianne Veenstra. So there is a good chance that one of these three drivers will take the title. However, the fourth ranked Brenda Wagemans also has a mathematical chance of winning the title.
If the ladies are evenly matched, the tension will be even greater among the young wolves of the 85cc. Last weekend, Brian Bogers and Micha Boy de Waal pulled together during the Coupe de l'Avenir. Now, however, they are head to head in the battle for the ONK 85cc. Brian Bogers leads the championship with 2 points ahead of Micha-Boy de Waal. So it could go either way as far as the title is concerned. Freek van der Vlist is third in the standings, but is already 31 points behind Bogers.
For a long time it seemed that Jeffrey Herlings was riding straight to the title in the ONK MX2, but a shoulder injury after a fall in the Czech GP threw a spanner in the works. As a result, Herlings could not defend his chances during the last two matches of the ONK: Emmen and Harfsen. But the North Brabander still leads the standings. Close pursuer Joël Roelants must score 39 points on Sunday to win his third consecutive ONK title. The Negaan JM Racing KTM rider can expect some tough weather from guys like Glenn Coldenhoff and Ceriel Klein Kromhof on the edge of the Veluwe. Kromhof leads the battle for third place and has 9 points more than Nick Triest. For Dennis Verbruggen, this race will be his farewell to the MX2 class. Will he still take a podium place as a farewell gift?
In the MX1 class, brand new Open Dutch Champion Marc de Reuver has to compete against a strong Belgian delegation, although Kevin Strijbos forfeited. Yentel Martens is still eligible for bronze. In addition, Marvin Van Daele, Andy Truyts, Kristof Salaets, Kevin Wouts and Stijn Verstrepen will also be in action at the Peppelenbos. We are also looking forward to the MX1 debut of Rinus Van De Ven, who will start in Harfsen on a KTM SX-F 350.
With three titles still to be awarded, there will be no shortage of tension in Harfsen on Sunday. Ideal to turn a day out into a day at Peppelenbos. The matches start on Sunday at 12:00 noon. It is then the ladies who kick off. You will find more information and directions here.
