Philippaerts and Cairoli still go to the Nations!
After a meeting between Youthstream, the FIM, the Italian Federation, Yamaha and KTM, the Italian team decided to go to the Red Bull FIM Motocross of Nations with Antonio Cairoli and David Philippaerts. Alessandro Lupino will be the MX2 rider. Lupino, who rides for Yamaha-Ricci Racing, is currently 14th in the MX2 World Championship.
The outcome of the meeting regarding visibility for sponsors is as follows: the top half of the shirt shows the sponsors of the Italian Federation. The bottom half and sleeves feature the team and driver logos. The rider's name and number appear on the back. The color of the shirt will be determined by the Federation. This rule will continue to apply for years to come and both Yamaha and KTM have committed to supporting the Italian association's youth program.
Due to this decision, Manuel Monni and Davide Guarneri will be left out as drivers for the Italian team, but they will travel to Denver with the 'Maglia Azzurra'.
