Philipaerts and Roczen on pole in Fermo.
Yesterday's rain made way for bright sunshine this morning. The spectacular Fermo circuit dried up quickly and soon the bikes were flying flat over the jumps. In two spectacular qualifying series, David Philipaerts and Ken Roczen emerged as winners. They won the last Love My Time awards of the season and will be the first to go to the starting gates tomorrow.
In the MX2 class, Roczen was the race leader from start to finish. Musquin followed his wheel the entire race but was never able to really attack. Jeremy van Horebeek capitalized on his good start and finished third. His teammate Frossard finished fourth and Guatier Paulin finished fifth. Joel Roelants came eleventh, Dennis Verbruggen 18th and Nick Triest came 20th.

In the MX1 class the victory went to Philipaerts. He also took the fastest start and never relinquished his leading position. In the initial phase he was fiercely attacked by the French battalion Aubin - Pourcel, but the Italian was not deterred. Pourcel came in a strong second and Aubin third. Cairoli took no risks in the initial phase and finished fourth with Steve Ramon in his wake. Desalle finished eighth and Ken de Dycker finished in 17th place.
After losing his second place in Brazil last year, Philipaerts announced that he would try to do the same tomorrow and, in the end, take second place in the World Cup from Desalle, who of course will not let that happen.
