MX2 Transfer Market 2011
The transfer period may be over in football, but in motocross the carousel is spinning happily these days. There is also a lot of new to be learned in the lightest class, although the class is very orange in 2011.
It is unclear who in 2011 for any Honda input will provide in the MX2 class. SRS Honda after all lost the support of Honda Europe. The Italian tuner's plans are not yet completely clear. But it cannot be ruled out that the team will continue Petar Petrov as leader. Australian Dean Ferris, who Belgian fans could see at work in Kester and Balen, is also quoted as a Honda MX2 rider. But that would be fine Martin Honda are. On the other hand, there is that Husqvarna seems determined to officially return to the MX2011 World Championship in 2. Considering their strong season in the MX2 European Championship, the Slovenians seem Jernej Irt and the Italian Andrea Cervellin already valid candidates. The identity of a second rider remains a matter of speculation, but it is certain that Husqvarna would like to have a Belgian rider in the team.
Almost the entire line-up of it Monster Energy CLS Kawasaki team is already known. Of Tommy Searle en Max Anstie a British card is already drawn. In itself not surprising considering that Searle's manager James Dobb also has a strong finger in the pie Monster Energy. In addition, it has Kawasaki Europe with Steve Gutteridge also a British one as competition manager. In addition to the two British people Valentin Teillet reported at CLS. Not surprising as a Kawasaki dealer Florida Motorcycle, of which CLS is a spin-off, will be more than happy to be present in French Rockstar Energy Elite championship. That brings us seamlessly Bud Racing Kawasaki of which the energy drink brand is the main sponsor. An extended stay there for the American Michael Leib seems extremely doubtful. Any new MX2 riders may come from their own country, if only for marketing reasons.
KTM The MX2011 starting field will continue to be largely orange in 2. For the time being Jeffrey herlings the only confirmed rider in the Red Bull KTM Factory team. Jeremy Van Horebeek's name has been circulating for quite some time as a teammate of Herlings. Perhaps not very logical, but it is called Red Bull KTM team manager Stefan Everts is charmed by the riding of the Flemish Brabander. In addition, the name is also mentioned Blake Wharton regularly associated with the KTM factory team. Perhaps far-fetched, but certainly not surprising since Wharton has been coached by a certain since this season Sebastien Tortelli. And the latter is now good friends with his former rival and KTM team manager Stefan Everts….
Ordered before Shaun Simpson there seems to be no room left in the MX2011 factory team in 2. The Scot probably still has a binding contract with the Austrian manufacturer because he would find accommodation with the Negaan JM Racing team of Jackie Martens. The Brit will probably immediately pass the current strong holder there Joel Roelants as leader. Frenchman Loïc Rombaut will probably be the third pawn in Jacky Martens' line-up. Martens probably also wants the current European 125cc champion Jordi Tixier keep in the team. Now that the MX2 European Championship will be held next year as a support program for the MX1/MX2 GPs, this should not pose a problem. For Dennis Verbruggen there seems to be no room left in the team of the former 500cc world champion. Given his age, he turned 23 at the beginning of August, the Grobbendonian must certainly look forward to a seat in the MX1.
Maximilian Nagl may only be 23, but the German is already investing in a career after motocross. From next year, the Nagl KTM team will enter the GP paddock. Not Max, but his father will be responsible for the daily policy of the team. The Nagl's immediately seem to be tackling things in a big way because in addition to the current SRS Honda rider Nikolai Larsen their fellow countryman also come Lars Oldekamp and the Swiss Valentin Guillod in the picture as drivers. In addition to the Negaan JM Racing team of Jacky Martens, we will most likely have another Belgian KTM team in 2011. Bee Diga Racing from Balen they have set their sights on the MX2 GPs. The team of Dirk Saelen provides for two riders to compete in the GPs and another rider to compete in the MX2 European Championship. There are no concrete names yet, but the name Nick Trieste often fell into the paddock. Nick told us in Orp-le-Grand that he is ready for next year, but did not want to explain with which team or in which class.
That brings us seamlessly to it Shineray MX Team China team of André Massant. Massant will probably return to the GPs in 2011, but it is not yet certain whether this will be with the support of the Chinese manufacturer. It is not yet clear with which driver(s) this should happen, but Triest seems to us to no longer be part of the team from Heist-Op-Den-Berg.
At Teka Suzuki There is still uncertainty about the leader Ken Roczen. However, the German has not yet signed a contract, a generally well-informed source told us. Roczen beckons to the States – something that is unlikely given the current age limits in the United States AMA Pro Series is difficult – or is another GP team pulling its sleeves? Whatever it may be, Roczen is well surrounded and so nothing leaks out. Arnaud Tonus seems to have already been set in stone for Suzuki's MX2 team. If Roczen actually moves, it seems almost certain that Rockstar Energy will also become a sponsor of the MX2 team. If Suzuki has been underrepresented in the MX2 GPs in recent seasons, this appears to be changing next year. As mentioned earlier, the brothers from Liège are walking Julien and Cédric Lieber will more than likely move to the MX2 GPs next year.
Also the Zolderse VAMO Racing, the competition arm of Suzuki dealer V-MAC, might compete in the MX2 World Championship next year. Team boss Steven Vandeweyer confirmed that a number of sponsors would like to see the team compete in the GPs. If that route were at all financially possible, VAMO would opt to work with the current driver Steven Lenoir to take the step to the highest level. Vandeweyer himself does not yet see the GPs as a must and would also be satisfied with a third season in the MX2 European Championship. After the brilliant season with Lenoir, VAMO has already become an established name in that championship.
