Davide Guarneri moves to Bud Racing-Kawasaki
After a strong debut season in the MX1 World Championship with LS Motors-Honda, Davide Guarneri will opt for green next year. The 25-year-old Italian signed a two-year deal with the French Rockstar Energy-Bud Racing-Kawasaki team. Although that name may become even longer in 2011 because Guarneri also brings the Italian sponsor Lovemytime.
Guarneri did more than decently in his first MX1 season. With a ninth place in the final standings and an Italian title to his name, he showed that he also has potential in the toughest class. Despite a good preseason from Aranda, 2009 was a letdown for Bud Racing. Aranda was injured and Nicolas Aubin fell far short of expectations. That's why Bud wanted a strong driver in addition to the talented Aranda. The arrival of Guarneri makes the southern French team strange, but also a bit more Belgian...
Team owner Stephane Dassé: “Thanks to the arrival of Lovemytime and the confirmation of Rockstar Energy, we can continue to invest in the future. Our next step, together with the arrival of Davide (Guarneri), is to set up a workshop in Belgium. Davide will continue to live in Belgium, but Greg will also train and test there. The development of the Kawasakis will continue to take place in our workshop in Hossegor.”
Guarneri himself said: “To be honest I had a very good first season in MX1 with LS Motors. But to take the step to a higher level I was looking for something different. That's what I think now at Bud Racing. From the first conversations I had a very good feeling. The presence of Jacky Vimond as trainer and coach is also an important factor. This is an interesting opportunity for me to make progress. I will not be riding for ten more seasons and I want to take the final steps as quickly as possible to achieve top three results.”
