BK Enduro Estinnes: Verpoorten winner in E1
It took a lot of effort, but last Sunday the time had finally come and the Estinnes Enduro could finally take place. Due to the administrative paper mill that preceded the competition, the original route was considerably reduced. The connecting rides may not have been that great, but the two specials that the participants were presented with were.
However, on a sporting level, the match was not without its challenges. The Inters and Beloften were left out in the cold when the results of their first special were canceled due to timekeeping problems. That this was not without repercussions was evident in the U41s, where Frédéric Gauniaux would end up XNUMX hundredths of a second behind Adrien Vandommele in the final settlement. In the scratch classification at the Inters, Jean-François Goblet once again proved to be the most regular rider. At the end of the day, the D'Ieteren Sport Yamaha rider had a thirteen second lead over KTM Belgium rider Cédric Crémer. Host Michael Vukcevic, who was responsible for setting the course, came third. The Sherco driver did four seconds better than Kevin Gauniaux. The Gas Gas rider was plagued by mechanical trouble all day: first the rear brake broke, then there were problems with the clutch.
Roel Verpoorten felt at home on the Estinnes slag heaps and won in the lightest class. Wim Vanderheyden had to tolerate Kevin Gauniaux at E3.
For the Beloften, it was reigning Junior champion Thierry Wansart who would be the big loser in Estinnes. By means of
After a fall in the last special, he was knocked back to sixth place and thus lost valuable points in the championship. Vandommele won ahead of Fréd Gauniaux and trialist Corentin Pochez. Bob Van Looveren, the only Flemish in the company, was disqualified due to unauthorized provision during a special.
