How can I go to Red Bull Under My Wings?
You can still nominate yourself for Red Bull Under My Wing until Sunday, August 29. This is a unique day where 24 Dutch motocross riders aged 15 years or younger, who ride in the 65cc or 85cc class (both large and small wheels can participate) get the opportunity to learn and race for one day together with Red Bull riders Marc de Reuver en Jeffrey herlings! Red Bull Under My Wing will take place at the De Lansard circuit in Veldhoven on Wednesday, September 15. The participants will be announced on September 1. MXM spoke about this with Arno Van Den Brink of Motocrossplanet.nl who sits on the jury together with Red Bull and KNMV national coach Leon Giesbers
What exactly do you need to do to participate in Red Bull Under my Wing?
Arno Van Den Brink: "It's very simple! Make a 1-minute video in which you first explain for about 20 seconds why you think you deserve this day. Then you have 40 seconds to show how good you are and how you control your bike. This way you can prove that you deserve to be inspired by Marc and Jeffrey for 1 day!”
But it's not a talent show, looking for the fastest rider?
Arno Van Den Brink: "No absolutely not. The main thing is to convince the jury why you want to participate on that day! If you are original or funny, you have a good chance. It is very nice and moving to see how everyone presents themselves in the first videos that have arrived. Sometimes they are still a bit tense because you are not in front of the camera every day. But just be yourself and say what you think and why you should participate. Then everything will be fine.”
A few weeks ago you were the fastest of motocross journalists during the Monster Energy karting competition in Lommel. You were even only a few tenths slower than the winner Harri Kullas! Have you lost a great motorsport talent?
Arno Van Den Brink: “Well, I don't know! Maybe it's a bit of my past as a motocross rider, but I also have some karting experience. My family had a kart cup every month. Then we went to a karting track with the family. So in the past I have done a lot of karting. And when I got into the kart, the reflexes came back! I didn't expect it to go so well. Last year I was also a bit shocked when I came second after Cairoli and ahead of Ken Roczen at a similar fun competition in Franciacorta. My weight is a little bit against me in karting. But I had started running again in recent weeks and that saved me a few kilos. I also won a nice trip in Lommel, so that couldn't go wrong!”
