Team New Zealand for MXoN
The Kiwis have been strong outsiders in the MX of Nations for years, whether they will succeed in the States this year remains to be seen. Last year the New Zealanders rode to eleventh place with the trio Josh Coppins (MX1), Scott Columb (Open) and Michael Phillips (MX2). Team New Zealand was on the podium in 1998 (Foxhill), 2001 (Namur) and 2006 (Matterly Basin).
Now the choice is Ben Townley (Honda-Open), Josh Coppins (Aprilia-MX1) and 19-year-old Brad Groombridge (Suzuki-MX2). Last year Groombridge finished third in the national MX1 championship behind Justin McDonald and Cody Cooper. A team manager has not yet been appointed.
