MX Pro Series Kester Preview
Six weeks after the first BC race of the season, the top riders of Belgian motocross meet in Kester, Flemish Brabant. The circuit in the heart of the Pajottenland is considered 'Flanders' most beautiful' and can count on a strong field of participants every year. You can find the preview in 'Het Nieuwsblad' here.
Will Ramon take his first ever victory in Kester?
Steve Ramon, who is a member of the organizing AMC Dworp, comes to Kester as BK leader. The West Flemish has returned to GP tours in recent weeks and will want to continue that trend in Pajottenland. Moreover, he won theBomb never on the Kesterheide. His closest pursuer, MX1 rookie David Guarneri, also left a good impression at the past GPs. Guarneri in turn has a 2 point lead over his teammate Tanel Leok.
Won last year Ken Dycker two of the then three series in Kester. The question is whether he can do that this year too. The Flemish Brabander is a bit in the corner where the blows fall, but nevertheless ranks at a 5e place in the World Cup standings. Whether he can catch up on Steve Ramon in Kester, the gap is currently already 12 points, remains to be seen. Also Kevin Strijbos After a two-year absence from the Kesterheide, he will be happy to show himself again to the enthusiastic Brabant audience. After years of injuries, Strijbos is gradually getting back into shape. He already won a championship match in the Netherlands, can he also do that in Kester?
Quite a few riders make their comeback in Kester after an injury. That's what we think about first and foremost Manuel Avg (more about his comeback here), but also to Marc de Reuver en Sebastien Pourcel. Pourcel is currently fifth in the BC standings and finds a course in Pajottenland that probably suits him better than the one in Beervelde. Of Joshua Coppins, there is also a permanent fixture on the Kesterheide, behind the starting gate. The New Zealander will no longer be riding a complete Belgian Championship this year, but Kester remains one of his favorite circuits.
The Jerrre on a 450!
Ordered before Jeremy Van Horebeek Kester is a home game. The best classified MX2 rider should be able to play for the podium, provided they get a good start. A consideration that may also apply to teammates Joel Roelants en Dennis Verbruggen. All three of them have already stood on the highest podium scaffold in Kester at the Inters MX2, will they now reach the podium at the Inters Open? In principle, however, Van Horebeek has an additional advantage because he will make his debut on Sunday on the more powerful MX1 bike! Of Shaun Simpson the three Belgian MX2 riders will now have a strong sparring partner.
