Musquin wins, mixed feelings lowlanders
With the exception of one GP (Valkenswaard), Marvin Musquin has now won all GPs to date. In Teutschenthal he had to leave the second series to a super motivated Ken Roczen who rode the reigning world champion by more than 26 seconds! Zach Osborne finished third and took his third consecutive podium at the end of the day.
Jeremy Van Horebeek had another good start, but a spectacular crash forced him to start again when he was sixth. The CLS-Kawasaki rider once again put in a great performance as he returned from 19th place to seventh place. In the GP, 'The Jerre' finished fifth. Too bad for the two-time Belgian MX2 champion who certainly had the speed to get on the podium. Joël Roelants had risen from 12th place after one lap to seventh place at the expense of Simpson. In a fast left turn, 'JR' slipped and gave up. Jeffrey Herlings finished eighth in the second race.
'The Jerre' comes second in series 1
Mud and deep ruts added an extra dimension to the first MX2 series of the day. A good start is in any case crucial in Teutschenthal and with a holeshot Jeffrey Herlings acquired an excellent starting position. Yet 'The Bullet' could not get a top result from this. He was quickly passed by Marvin Musquin and gradually lost ground, eventually dropping out of the race when he was seventh.
Jeremy Van Horebeek delivered an excellent performance, moving from fourth place at the start to second place. The Jerre came under heavy pressure from Ken Roczen, but the young German had to step down when he had problems with his glasses. Van Horebeek stayed in position, even set the fastest lap of the race and finished second ahead of teammate Frossard. Joël Roelants was able to take advantage of a late error by Simpson to finish eighth.
