Dungey and Pourcel at the party in Freestone
After a disappointing start to the season in Hangtown, SX champion Ryan Dungey (1-1) won in Freestone, Texas. Reed finished second (2-3) ahead of Kyle Regal (6-2). In the Lites, Christophe Pourcel (1-5) takes his first National victory of the season. Rattray (6-1) finished second ahead of Dean Wilson (3-3).
Dungey puts things in order
In the first series, Dungey quickly turned it into a solo race. The Suzuki factory pilot even finished with a lead of 30 seconds. Both Reed and Alessi had bad starts, but Chad was able to rectify the situation after a nice comeback. He even finished second ahead of Townley and Hahn. Alessi had to be satisfied with twelfth place. Brett Metcalfe took the holeshot, just like in the first series. Alessi was now second away followed by Short, Dungey, Regal and Reed. Almost all the favorites are at the front, except Townley who crashed early and had to chase all the way from last place. Dungey quickly takes the lead again, while Metcalfe is able to benefit from his cannon start. Regal is the revelation of the race, passing Short and Metcalfe to become the second runner-up. Reed comes in third

Cri-Cri brought Tomac back, Wilson finished third. Tomac was also the first leader in the second moto, followed by Dean Wilson. Wilson takes the lead, but former MX2 World Champion Tyla Rattray has the longest lead.
