Meet the 2011 Kawa KX250F
In the US, Kawasaki Racing is still a different standard than on the mainland. Aboard the KX250F, victory is not only achieved in the East, but also in the West Supercross Lites class. Not bad, but that of course creates an extra challenge. Make the best even better. Or have the engineers done everything they can to bring the standard engines closer to the racing engines? We looked it up for you.
Now also with fuel injection
The 250 KX2011F model enjoys no less than 30 upgrades. The 249cc single-cylinder engine received higher compression, a modified piston, higher valve lift, a longer lasting ignition spark and of course the brand new electronic injection (DFI). With this, Kawasaki has already cleared its backlog in that area and it is now just a matter of waiting for Yamaha to provide the entire quarter-liter class of the Big4 with fuel injection. These refinements should provide a longer final sprint without negatively affecting the torque at low revs and the midrange. Just like with its bigger brother, racers can use the ECU tool to edit the mappings. Thanks to this piece of technology, you can also store 6 hours of data and then analyze it perfectly.
One of the biggest changes in terms of chassis is in the Showa front fork. Here it was decided to house the spring (right) and the damping in the various fork legs. This benefits performance, friction, weight and ease of adjustment, or so is claimed. The friction of the fork legs is in turn reduced even further thanks to the rock-hard TiN coating. Furthermore, modified plastic parts and a new saddle should ensure that the rider will sit on his motorcycle more naturally. The new stainless steel exhaust silencer makes it possible to limit the noise produced to 94 dB without having to sacrifice power.
Kawasaki has already succeeded in making MXM more than curious. However, in terms of color they remain somewhat predictable, because the KX250F will be available in… green!
