Leok and Herlings logical winners in Wuustwezel
Wonderful Pentecost weather, top drivers and a well-prepared circuit were the ingredients for the 41e International motocross from Wuustwezel. No Belgian toppers at the Inters MX1-MX3, although that didn't spoil the fun. In both MX1 and MX2, the highest ranked riders in the World Championship, Tanel Leok and Jeffrey Herlings, were the respective winners. However, that doesn't mean the matches were boring. There was a lot to experience, especially in the MX2.
LS Motors riders share victories
In the MX1 it was Honda and especially LS Motors that led the way. Davide Guarneri took the holeshot in the first moto and never looked back. Behind him followed Evgeny Bobryshev and Tanel Leok. Eric Foguenne remains in the front ranks for a remarkably long time. The MC Mikkola pilot would eventually finish fifth. When the dashing Evgeny “J-Bob” Bobryshev made a mistake, he opened the door for an LS Motors double-team with Guarneri and Leok. Very nice was the fourth place of two-stroke rider Yentel Martens who had rode well to the front.
A massive crash in the first corner marred the start of the second MX1 series. Guarneri, De Reuver, Laeremans, Verhoeven and Gysel, among others, were among the victims. The way was thus open for a one-man show by The Estonian Express. Leok eventually crossed the line almost 37 seconds ahead of Bobryshev. Marvin Van Daele was now fourth and 'Smarry' would also finish fourth in the final standings.

Show of power from The bullet!
Beforehand, doubts had arisen here and there about the participation or deployment of Jeffrey Herlings in Wuustwezel. The 15-year-old wonder boy from Elsendorp completely erased those doubts with two resounding series victories. In the first heat, Herlings immediately took the holeshot. The race was immediately shocked by a huge crash by Jimmy Huysmans, fortunately without much damage. The only competitor who could follow Herlings was teammate Shaun Simpson. Simpson briefly took the lead after a mistake by Herlings, but the latter eventually finished easily. Behind the Red Bull KTM duo, Nick Triest put pressure on Joël Roelants in the battle for 3rd place. However, Quick Nick had to release the role over time. The battle for fifth place was quickly decided by Axel Alletru who outpaced Verbruggen. It should also be noted that Kevin Fors made a strong debut with a seventh place on a KTM SX-F 250. Mark Boot finished eighth in the opening heat.
The holeshot in heat 2 went to Shaun Simpson. This time Joël Roelants was able to simply join the two Red Bull KTM riders. Herlings managed to pass teammate Simpson in the final phase. Triest finished fourth ahead of Verbruggen. Alletru had to give up on Michael van Wezel in the battle for sixth place.
