GP Portugal: The Jerre is looking forward to it!
It is clear that Jeremy Van Horebeek did a good job last winter. The two-time Belgian MX2 champion underwent a real transformation compared to last year. Van Horebeek is currently the best Belgian in the MX2 World Championship with seventh place, but he is still not in top form…
Being color blind makes little difference in the MX2 for the time being. You've already finished talking to Musquin and Herlings' orange and Roczen's yellow! Although, every now and then there is also a hint of green. Monster Energy-Pro Circuit-CLS Kawasaki has already scored two podiums with Steven Frossard and if The Jerre can continue his upward trend, fourth in two series in Mantova and Valkenswaard, he could surprise in Agueda!
How did the MX Pro Series in Beervelde go?
From Horebeek: “It went well, I had a great time. Although I thought the circuit was very dangerous! In the second series I was finally able to really do what I wanted craving had in. It went very well, the bike ran perfectly and I was super satisfied because it was physically tough. With my comeback from last place to seventh place I showed that I am ready for Portugal and the upcoming GPs.”
What do you think of the new competition format in the MX Pro Series?
From Horebeek: “I certainly think it is progress compared to the three short series before. It also takes a bit of getting used to, of course. The day seems to be divided into short chunks. The training is short, then comes the qualifying series and there is little break until the first series, but come on, it is certainly not bad.”
The season is on an upward trend, do you also feel that physically?
From Horebeek: “Yes, the intention was to get even stronger as the season progresses and it shows. After Saturday's race in Beervelde I didn't even feel tired. As if I hadn't driven!”
The CLS-Pro Circuit Kawasaki was one of - if not the loudest - bike in Valence a few months ago - now fortunately you meet the noise standards. Was a lot of power lost?
From Horebeek: “Absolutely, you feel the difference enormously. With that motorcycle you would have seen something else! Anyway, the decibel rules are the same for everyone. So that's not what it's about.”
For the time being there are two categories in MX2, there is the leading group with Roczen-Musquin-Herlings and then a handful of strong riders. You are clearly part of that, but does more is needed to compete at the front?
From Horebeek: "I tend to disagree. You'll have to believe me, but those guys don't drive faster than me. I just have to be there at the start. Hopefully that will be possible from this weekend!”
Success!
