FAM Hamont: Wybo and Laurijssen first leaders
Heavy downpours hit Hamont on Sunday afternoon. Yet the legendary Kiekoet circuit remained easily passable. And that was a good thing because the circuit was the venue for the first round of the FAM championship. The favorites were present at the Inters, but not everything went as planned.
Steve Seronval had previously been identified as one of the top favorites for the FAM Inters MX1 title. With two 30-minute heats in the MX Pro Series under his belt, Seronval rode resolutely to victory in the opening heat. Behind the MCLB star, VLM rider Kenny Janssens managed to stay ahead of Jan Laurijssen. Good Old Peter Iven and David Vantornout completed the top 5. The second series started without Seronval who suffered from mechanical problems. The battle raged at the front between three riders from the Noorderkempen. Former MX3 world champion Sven Breugelmans won the series ahead of Christof Godrie and Jan Laurijssen. Peter Iven and Mike Van Der Straeten finished 4the in 5. e. This meant that Jan Laurijssen took the overall victory ahead of Breugelmans and Godrie.
Jurgen Wybo, who was on the podium the day before in the Radson MX2 Trophy, won the first series of the Inters MX2. Home rider Marco Stallmann managed to stay ahead of VLM riders Jonathan Banken and Ronny Van Hove. Kemea-Yamaha rider Danny De Baets finished 5the. BeTeMo-Yamaha rider Wesley Verheyen won the race in the second series ahead of Wybo and De Baets. VLM drivers Van Hove and Banken completed the top 5. Jurgen Wybo had a great weekend. The MX Viaene-Kawasaki rider not only leads the FAM Inters MX2 championship, but also occupies second place in the Radson MX2 Trophy (BK MX2). Moreover, Wybo also leads the standings of the MCLB championship.
