Extended weekend of racing!
The most important event on Easter Monday was of course the GP of the Netherlands Sidecar Cross in Oldebroek. Left in there Daniel Willemsen along with his new one bakingist Gertie Eggink see that he has no intention of resigning himself to last year's Belgian “coup”. On the contrary, because there was no match for Willemsen-Eggink in Oldebroek. The seven-time world champion is therefore in the lead in the World Cup standings with the maximum number of points (50 points). The young Dutch duo Etienne Bax-Ben Van den Bogaart managed to finish second in the first heat, but had to settle for fifth in the restart. It was the Latvians Maris Rupeiks and Kaspars Stupelis who would finish second in the second heat. Delivered two third places Ben Adriaenssen and Kenny Van Galen their very first GP podium. Certainly not bad when you know that 21-year-old Ben and 22-year-old Kenny rode with the MON amateurs two years ago.
Jan Hendrickx and Tim Smeuninx turned out to be the best combination of team Hendrickx, the numbers 2 from last year's World Cup only became 8 in the first seriese and fell just off the podium in the second series. With a sixth and ninth place in the series, the reigning world champion Joris Hendrickx together with baker Kaspars Liepins disappoint. There was even more disappointment ahead Peter Steegmans-Sven Verbrugge because the experienced combination did not reach the finish in either series.
