Opening FAM championship in Hamont-Achel
In 2009, the FAM championship provided a lot of tension across the six series. This included the thriller between Ronny Van Hove and Wesley Verheyen at the Inters MX2 in Waasmont. Verheyen ultimately came out on top, the BeTeMo rider is once again one of the favorites. Other contenders are certainly Jonathan Banken and Marco Briers (both VLM) and Torpjurn Van Hoe, Jurgen Wybo and Kenny Dult from MCLB. Frederic Weigert, Marco Stalman and Björn Nouwen have to defend the VBM colors.
It also promises to be an open battle at the Inters MX1/3. Who will be the successor to Dutchman Bas Verhoeven? What is certain is that Steve Seronval, second last year, is looking for revenge and is in good shape. A lot of others, especially experienced riders, are eager to get started, just think of guys like Danny Wauters, Peter Iven, Kenny Janssens and especially Jelle Grade from VLM. In addition to Seronval, MCLB is counting on David Vantornout, Christophe Descamps, Jurgen Paepe, Steven De Strijcker and some young people such as Gregory Demuynck, Stef Vandaele and Glenn Baert. From the side of the VBM home drivers' VBM, one can hope for a great performance from Jan Laureyssen and Mike Vanderstraeten.
In the Quads A a successor is being sought for Peter Laan and in the Quads B Rene Stalman was champion in 2009, who will ride into history in 2010? As always, the Sidecars provide the apotheosis. The big favorites to succeed themselves are of course Jantje Goethals – Dimitri Vandeursen, the queen couple at the fancier federations. Who will do something to them ... are VLM federation mates Chris Corthouts-Somers or Karl Goossens-Gorris, or the MCLB players Guy Smet-Kramar, Marc Verbrugghe-Soenens, Christophe Vancoillie-Galle or Kenneth Dierckens-Kindt? In group B we are looking forward to the VLM riders Christof Van Der Veken-Meeus, Ivo Nuyts-Smolders or Ivo Cornelis-Janssens and on the MCLB side we dare to put the youngsters Yens Delmotte-Catelin and Bert Soetaert-Scheire forward! We will all know on May 2... Click here to view photos of the circuit in Amont-Achel.
