ONK Gemert: Herlings crushes the competition!
In his home race, Gemert, there was never a second of doubt who would win the third round of the ONK MX2. Red Bull-KTM rider Jeffrey Herlings made fun of just about everyone and won both series. In the second series he even doubled up to the sixth rider. Herlings already fired a clear warning shot during the qualifications at the Wolfsbosch circuit this morning. He took pole almost 2,8 seconds ahead of teammate Shaun Simpson. Reigning Dutch champion Roelants followed almost 3,7 (!) seconds, the other GP riders including Van Horebeek, Verbruggen and Frossard were also driven at a considerable distance.
Shaun Simpson finished second in the final standings after two second places, Roelants was also on the podium after finishing third twice. Harri Kullas finished fourth overall. Ceriel Klein-Kromhof finished fifth in the second heat, but had to retire due to technical problems in the first heat. Of course, Herlings is now also in the lead in the ONK MX2 with 142 points. Roelants follows on 35 points (107), Nick Triest is a nice third with 96 points. Ceriel Klein Kromhof is fourth (76 points), the surprising Mike Van De Bogaert is fifth (65 points) and Verbruggen is sixth (62 points).
