Seronval, Wybo & Co in Roosdaal
After seven preparatory matches, things will get serious for the MCLB-Inters this weekend. In Roosdaal the tenors will now start the 2010 edition of the MCLB championship on Sunday. During the run-up to Roosdaal, a number of clear value ratios already emerged. MXMag.be tells you which ones they are. It is already clear that the midsummer period will probably be crucial for the course of the championship.
Inters MX1/MX3: is Great Steve is it correct?
You'd have to be crazy not to Steve Seronval to bet this year. After a somewhat hesitant start during the season opener in Overslag, the Liège native got into the swing of things. In Kachtem, Seronval claimed another series victory Jurgen Wybo but only then did the crushing roller really get going. In the five subsequent games Great Steve not missing a single point. It is therefore no wonder that we put Seronval forward as Super Favorite. The battle for the remaining podium places could become more exciting. Former European 250cc champion Christof Godrie has adapted to the MCLB circuits in no time. The Wim Motors-Honda driver is clearly the “best of the rest”. Yet we see a number of veterans who could occasionally throw a spanner in the works. That's what we think about Christophe Descamps, David Vantornout, Bart Bonnewijn en Jurgen Paepe.
The question, however, is how long this “old guard” will be able to hold out against the advancing youth violence. Both Gregory Demuynck as a Sven Roelandt have already recorded several top five places. Can one of those two riders take a podium place in the final standings of the MCLB Inters MX1/MX3 championship?
Inters MX2: Wybo favorite
Based on his record, we would be a newcomer Jurgen Wybo can be put forward as favorite at the Inters MX2. However, that does not mean that the MX Viaene Kawasaki rider dominated the preseason. Nor does a “young dog” seem like Torpjurn Van Hoe to accept this supremacy. It is therefore expected that we will get a fierce battle for the Inters MX2 title between these two riders. Waaslander Kenny Dult could occasionally play the referee in this match. Also a veteran Eric Siriez, the 2009 runner-up, will undoubtedly play a role in the title debate.
Inters Open B: exciting battle
The battle at the Inters Open B could well be the most exciting of the three Inter championships. The no. 3 of the 2009 edition Jens Bleyaert has already taken a number of victories and thus underlined his title ambitions. But also Jaimy De Leersnijder, last year's champion at the Nationals MX1, already made himself noticed. The same observation applies to Neal DeConinck, who won the title at the Nationals MX2 last season. Add to this a number of sub-toppers from last season such as Jelle Van De Walle, Dennis Van Hul en Henk Goderis and you have the recipe for a very open title fight.
