Jean-François Goblet is a size too big
One month after the opening race in Warnant, the Belgian Enduro Championship continued in Flavion (between Dinant and Philippeville). After deleting two Special Due to a problem with the admission, the riders could only make a difference in the chrono test of Emerton-sur-Biert. There, a beautiful route had been set out on a meadow, with the necessary artificial obstacles. The surface turned out to be bone dry thanks to the mild weather of recent weeks.
Only a small slip in the fourth and final passage of the special could disrupt Jean-François Goblet's day. Just like in Warnant, the official Yamaha pilot dominated the race to eventually win by 12 seconds ahead of Kevin Gauniaux (GasGas). Kevin took advantage of Goblet's one mistake by taking the scratch in the final chrono test.
Cédric Cremer and his KTM 450 took the final podium spot. Michaël Vukcevic, disadvantaged in terms of power with his Sherco 310 4T, is eagerly awaiting the more technical work in the next race in Saint-Hubert on May 2. Vukcevic's experience in better climbing should certainly come in handy there.
Comments
Jean-François Goblet (Yamaha/MX Action) – Winner
“The enduro was rather easy today, there was not much rhythm in the race. The special from Ermeton was beautiful in itself, but not exactly difficult! As a result, it was a matter of staying focused and not making a mistake. Except for that mistake in the last lap, I did a good job. I am happy that I was able to show myself this way and I am really looking forward to the rest of the championship!”
Kevin Gauniaux (GasGas Belgium) – Second
“My scratch in the last chrono test gave me pleasure, because it proves that I can play at the front! Now it's up to me to get up to speed faster and put pressure on the competition early.”
Michaël Vukcevic (Sherco Belgium) – Fourth
“Jean-François Goblet stands out, that much is clear. You notice that he is riding at World Cup level and that he has increased his pace. Behind him it is much more open. I feel good on the Sherco 310 and I'm really looking forward to Saint-Hubert next week. We will have a very demanding, technical competition there and I am sure I can do even better there!”
