Two in a row for Brent Van Doninck!
The second test in the French Cadet Championship was held this weekend in Chateau du Loir, just below Le Mans. The rain on Saturday made the track very difficult. However, the Belgians present, Yannick Heylen, Daymond Martens, Stijn Hofman and Brent Van Doninck, qualified easily. No pole this time for Van Doninck, who had to pass Romain Martel in his qualifying group.
In the first series, Van Doninck has to deal with problems at the starting gate. Brent has a very bad position in the first corner but manages to work his way to the front. Many drivers, including the front runners, make mistakes on the tough circuit, but Brent is still able to win the first heat with a lead of more than 30 seconds.
Van Doninck is doing well in the second series. After a few laps he takes the lead, this time he makes too many mistakes, can't find the right rhythm anymore and has to let Jermain Jamet in front. At the start of the third heat there is a massive crash in which Brent Van Doninck is also involved. He is almost last when he can finally leave. The young Herentals player has now found the right rhythm and is moving faster and faster. The leaders remain out of reach, but Van Doninck finishes fourth! Also a nice series from Martens (eighth) and Hofman (tenth). Van Doninck wins the daily classification ahead of Nicolas Dercourt and Anthony Charpentier. The full results here.. Next weekend, most Belgian 85cc riders will compete during the Belgian National in Genk. Van Doninck is competing in the second ONK match in Halle where he will compete against Micha-Boy De Waal and Brian Bogers.
