Philippaerts and Paulin win in Mill
The opening of the ONK Mill was a public success, but the Dutch and Belgian riders remained a bit hungry at Circuit Park 'De Kuilen'. After all, the overall victories went to the Yamaha-Monster Energy duo: David Philippaerts and Gauthier Paulin.
No De Reuver – De Dycker duel
A motivated David Philippaerts took the lead in the MX1 with two series victories. In the first round the Italian fought a duel with Ken De Dycker, in the revival 'DP19' took over the lead in the second lap for a solo tour. No trace of De Dycker at the front in the second heat, because Keeno fell silent on the starting line! After a fourth place in the opening heat, Marc De Reuver rode to a neat second place. The surprise of the day in the MX1 came from Beursfoon-Suzuki newcomer Kevin Strijbos. Strijbos performed more than well in Mill and was able to immediately reach the podium with two third places. Reigning champion Patrick Roos (5+5) also had a strong day in this GP field and finished fifth overall after the surprisingly strong Tom Söderstrom (Yamaha-Van Beers).

Gautier Paulin has the longest breath (for now).
Jeffrey Herlings was almost 1.8 seconds faster than Gautier Paulin during the timed training. The promising KTM-Red Bull rider seemed to be on his way to a resounding victory in the first series, but made a mistake on the third lap. This is how Joël Roelants still took the lead, although he had to remain concentrated until the finish with a pressing Paulin on his wheel. Herlings managed to move up from fifth place to third, with a street length lead over Nick Triest and Herjan Brakke. Quick starter Mike Van Den Bogaert finished sixth.
Herlings seemed to put things in order in the second series, but Paulin's experience was ultimately decisive. Roelants never got into his rhythm and 'only' finished third. 'Beast from the East', Ceriel Klein Kromhof, saw a regular race rewarded with fourth place Triest and Coldenhoff. The VLM sensation from Keiheuvel, Jeffrey De Wulf, confirmed with a ninth place ahead of fellow countryman Vandueren.
