The Motorsport Future Newsletter
Of course, we will also continue to closely monitor the activities of Motorsport Future. Fortunately, Frank De Vos and his colleagues from the MX youth project also lend us a helping hand with an overview of the past weeks and months!
It's off to a good start…
The physical preparation for the season started on November 15 with physical training in collaboration with top sport ABC and professor Hespel from the sports room in Leuven. The motorcycle training started in mid-December. During the Christmas holidays, a 4-day physical training internship was organized at the Bloso domain in Herentals, with motorcycle training linked to it. During the physical internship, a wide range of sports was discussed in preparation for the new season, including mountain biking, running, swimming, strength training, indoor football, tennis football, skating, ping pong, etc.
In the preparation, the group trained a few more times with the motorcycle, as well as on a physical level, so that everyone was ready for the new season. Dunkirk was mainly the base for motorcycle training due to the bad weather, but a supercross training was also planned in Genk.
Half won?!
The new season started without Jeff Cloots, Gunther Ghijsels and Dietger Damiaens. Jeff Cloots underwent surgery after the match in China where he defended the Belgian colors. Gunther Ghijsels crashed in the preparation phase and therefore saw the spring classics of Lommel, Valence and Hawkstone Park canceled due to a shoulder injury.
Dietger Damiaens also had a crash during the preparation. Dietger and Gunther will start motorcycle training again within a few days, Jeff Cloots will have to rest for a few more months. Present in Lommel was Jens Getteman and Damon Graulus, who made his debut at the inters MX2. The boys did far from bad in the first race, including a nice 12th place overall for Jens Getteman on the LS Honda. Damon Graulus rode a good opening moto (125) on his 17 cc two-stroke KTM, but crashed in the second heat. In the 85 cc category, our newest additions certainly made themselves heard with a 9th place for our youngest rider Jordi Van Mieghem and a 7th place for Axel Nijs.
