Injuries Larrieu, Aranda and Townley
Na Valentin Teillet (hand injury) now also has the French MX2 promise Loic Larrieu (see photo) sustained an injury. According to Motorcycle Larrieu broke his left collarbone in a fall in Gallarate last weekend. The Yamaha-Ricci will in any case miss the GP of Bulgaria on April 3 and 4. A setback for Loic, who returned from a shoulder injury this winter. Gregory Aranda rode three series in Pernes-les-Fonatines with a serious ankle injury. Aranda crashed hard during the qualifications on Saturday. He suffered a concussion and a severely swollen ankle. Despite the pain, Aranda simply rode the three heats on Sunday. He hopes to be there again next Sunday in Romagné for the third round in the Rockstar Elite.
Ben Townley came into training in New Zealand, with his stomach making hard contact with his handlebars. Diagnosis in hospital revealed that Tonwley had suffered a hole in an intestine. On Monday evening 'BT' was operated on, according to the initial timing he would need about six weeks to recover. "This is really a big setback," said Townley disappointed from his hospital bed. “I was looking forward to riding in Europe next month. That is of course no longer possible. I have a lot of friends in Europe and I will definitely ride some GPs again one day.” The Troy Lee Designs/Lucas Oil/Honda/Red Bull rider is now aiming as planned for the Nationals that start on May 22 in Hangtown.
