Patrick Caps injuries update
Patrick Caps (32) suffered serious injuries last week in a crash during training in Spain. Caps' injuries also appear to be more serious than first thought. David De Merlier from Patatskimxshop spoke to the MTM Racing Suzuki driver yesterday: “Patrick broke the D2, 5 and 7 vertebrae and 5 ribs. He also suffered a collapsed lung. This Thursday he will be taken back to Belgium by ambulance. In any case, he would have to stay here in the hospital for another two weeks.”
MX of Nations winner becomes youth counselor and tire specialist
Normally, 2010 was also the last season for Caps, who had said goodbye to the GPs for several years. The Liège resident will now focus entirely on his business, distributing Goldentyre tires and guiding his talented stepson Kevin Fors.
Caps himself was in the running for the 2002cc world title for a long time in 125, he finished third in the final standings that year. Immediately the best result of his career. He also won two GPs, but especially his beautiful MX of Nations in Foxhill (1998) will always be remembered by many cross fans. In 2003 he rode in the MXGP class with Bruforce-KTM, but 'Capsul' mainly excelled in the lightest class. After his GP career, he switched to enduro, although he was also regularly seen in the Motocross Championships. MXM wishes Patrick a speedy recovery and good luck with his new challenges.
