Reactions Opening Cross Lommel
Rarely has the Belgian opening cross provided so much food for discussion. Before and after the match. In addition to the “winter wonderland” there were fortunately some great sporting achievements to talk about. We collected some responses for you.
Ken De Dycker (winner in MX1): “Driving was very difficult today. Any comparison with any other match was completely impossible. I had never experienced this before! The main thing was to stay straight. Actually it was better during the free training sessions, because of the fresh snow later you had to be very careful. Things went a little better in the second series. I drove more calmly and therefore I went through the bends more smoothly. It didn't have to take much longer. My fingers were almost frozen!”
Jeremy Delincé (second in MX1): “I didn't expect this at all! Certainly not because I haven't ridden the bike much and because I'm making my debut in MX1 this year. In the first series I had a good start, I could ride my own rhythm and made no mistakes. After about four laps I looked back and to my surprise no one was following! Too bad I lost the overall victory due to a mistake in the second heat. It wasn't easy to drive here, but I like those conditions where you have to be careful with the gas. I thought it was fun!” A longer audio response, in French, you can find here.
Steve Ramon (fourth in MX1): “You had to be very careful everywhere, the organization did what it could, but this was really an ice rink! I did it very carefully, because there was no point in taking any risks here. The season is still long and these were just about the worst possible conditions.”
