SX Dortmund: Three in a row for Kyle Chisholm!
After a disappointing SX season in 2009 with L&M Team San Manuel Yamaha, Kyle Chisholm's image took a major hit. The 22-year-old American was not at the start in Anaheim this weekend, but was in Dortmund, Germany. There the Sturm-Kawasaki rider proved that he has not yet forgotten supercrossing.
Flop in the US, King in Germany?!
Chisholm rode to his third victory of the weekend on Sunday. Also his easiest victory, because this time he had a good start. In addition to the title 'King of Dortmund', the American also received a huge trophy and a Toyota Auris. Kyle Chisholm: “I made it easier for myself tonight because I had a better start and was able to get to the front quickly. The driving wasn't really great, I was too tense because now the pressure was on me! Fortunately I was able to finish it, a really fantastic feeling.”
Siegl brings Westfalenhal into ecstasy
Home driver Daniel Siegl also had a fantastic feeling, who rode from fourth to second place in the final. The Suzuki rider received the support of the crowd as he rode from third place to Rodrigues, who was second at the time. Siegl's podium finish even gives him a place in the history of the Dortmund SX Cup. It had been ten years since a German had stood on the podium!
In the final standings over the three days, Siegl unfortunately just missed the podium. The Americans Jason Thomas and PJ Larsen were placed on the podium of honor next to Chisholm. Due to his shoulder injury suffered on Friday, Jurgen Wybo was only able to compete at half strength, but Yentel Martens certainly did well. In the repechage, Yentel made an excellent start in third place. The young Belgian then had to give up a few positions, but the KTM rider showed that he had learned a lot over the past weekend.
Maillard excels in SX2
Anyone who thought that the ADAC SX2 title had fallen into Boris Maillard's lap got a tit for tat today. The young Frenchman won both races. Although he had to watch out for the sitting Chatfield, especially in the first series. The same Adam Chatfield was crowned 'Prince of Dortmund'. In that general classification, the Brit, Maillard - and another Brit - Ashley Greedy preceded. Rabbit Racing Kawaski rider Maurice Klijn ended up in the finals after finishing second in the repechage. Eric Foguenne (fourth) and Nick Kouwenberg (fifth) were unfortunately unable to qualify in this LCQ. In the second SX2 final, Klijn made a good impression with a seventh place.
As always, Dortmund did not bring a top field of participants to the start, but the crowd did get some excitement and spectacle. The beautiful circuit, built by the Belgian Freddy Verherstraeten, also received much support. In short, Dortmund effortlessly confirmed its top position among the German SX competitions. The 28 will follow next yearth edition!
