Sporza: MX1 GPs no longer live
The rumor that Sporza would cancel the live broadcasts of the MX1 GPs has been going around for a while. Disappointing news that was unfortunately confirmed today in an email from Sporza. However, that does not mean that Sporza will no longer broadcast motocross in 2010.
"It is indeed true that the contract for the live broadcasts of motocross has expired and has not been renewed. We no longer have the ability to pay the duties. However, you will still receive a comprehensive summary of every GP in Sporza on Sunday around 17.30:XNUMX p.m. according to the Sporza editors.
Obviously, after more than a decade of live GPs on TV, this is not a good thing for Belgian motocross. Moreover, the live broadcasts could also count on many Dutch viewers. It is currently unclear whether another Flemish TV channel wants to take over the live broadcasts of the MX1/MX2 GPs. By broadcasting extensive summaries, Sporza does not leave motocross fans out in the cold. Although, in the context of overcrowded program schedules on Sunday afternoons, one may wonder how "extensive" those summaries will be. Something tells us that some MX fans will start a Facebook campaign to get the Motorcross GPs live into Flemish living rooms.
